Golf Range Finder

A golf range finder is a highly recommended tool for any golfer, professional or recreational. While golf GPS devices are great tools, range finders offer their own advantages and can be more desirable in some situations. A golf range finder is quick and easy to use and takes measurements directly rather than relying on external sources of information. You don't need to worry about whether or not a particular golf course has been mapped for your GPS, and when you're out on the course you don't need to worry about losing the satellite signal. The accuracy of a golf GPS is dependent on how the course was mapped and although they are generally very good, there can be some variation. With a golf range finder however, the accuracy is dictated entirely by the unit itself, and the margin of error is normally within 1 or 2 yards.

Golf range finders can be useful in tournaments where GPS devices are not permitted. In these cases, golfers will generally be allowed to use devices which ONLY measure the distance to a particular object. The Bushnell Tour V2 and Pro 1600 laser range finders come in two variations: the basic model, which simply provides line-of-sight yardage, and the Slope Edition, which compensates for target elevation to tell you how long the shot will actually play. Bushnell's Slope Technology can be a very powerful tool to help you judge a shot, but it is illegal in some tournaments and may be frowned upon by some traditionalists. We recommend taking these factors into consideration when deciding which golf range finder is best for you.
